Version 1.7.1 Released!

EDIT: Released 1.7.1 to disable run on start due to issues and fix sorting issue

Hi all, after a long wait, version 1.7.0 is here.

Check it out and let me know if you have issues.

There were a ton of changes in this release, here's the complete list:

* More user interface tweaks
* Add indicaton of time and battery life at all times forum post
* Setting to run on start (actually works now) forum post
* Fixed bug in daily update timeframe
* More memory tweaks
* Cancelling out of picking a storage folder breaks startup
* These updates were added in test releases (1.6.9-1.6.14), but this is the first wide release of them:
* Can't do: Make the podcast input screen use a url filter input method (it makes paste of multiple urls not work)
* Add keyboard lock shortcut key (L)
* Urls with spaces in the name should be encoded properly (replacing with %20)
* Add an 'update' menu option when viewing episode list
* Add a 'view item' option from download screen
* Add 'display priority' podcast setting that alters the way they're sorted in the main screen
* Improvements for audio books forum post
* Inserting USB cable while playing throws uncaught null pointer exception if mass storage mode is set to auto forum post
* Fixed issue with feed updating introduced in 1.6.12
* Even more memory improvements
* Deleting feeds doesn't work when they don't have any episodes
* Fixed major but silly bug with audio playback (it would play back as a video, or try to, anyway)
* Hopefully fixed: Don't know whether you've seen this before - but I use the Auto on/off feature every night, and any podcasts I'm in the middle of always restart from the beginning after my Bold has been off and on again. It states the correct position, but when pressing Space to resume, it restarts from the beginning.
* Old podcasts aren't getting deleted, consuming memory
* Adding a folder to a playlist should skip completed files
* Made podcast deletion cancellable
* Lots and lots of memory optimization stuff
* Old episodes wouldn't delete as they fell off the feed
* Logs should be compressed for output
* Should have a 'default podcast' settings screen that stores settings for new podcasts
* Crashing on playlist creation
* Fixed: Partial download of feeds wasn't parsing properly
* Stupid non-compliant web servers that respond with Content-Range: 6592057-10801720/10801721
* Setting to keep a certain amount of free space available on the memory card forum post
* Playback priority should default to 15 forum post
* Players that error out should have their state saved and be shutdown to avoid issues
* Fixed: Video playback on Storm doesn't adjust size after rotation (keeps size from original orientation) forum post
* Need some way of setting a predetermined time of day to check for updates (note, only works for 'Daily' setting, currently)
* Ability to add folder to playlist forum post forum post

i lost my podcasts upon upgrade

Went back to 1.6.14 and they were back. In 1.7.0 it told me they were gone and asked me to select a folder or something.

:/ Hmm, mine made it through, and I had another user that made it through ok as well, so this may be hard to pin down.

It sounds almost like a permissions issue. Would you be able to try it again and see if the same thing happens? Does it get past the permissions setting stuff?

If it does happen again would you mind describing what it asks and what you see? And maybe even sending a copy of the logs to me while it's happening?

Any help is appreciated.

Argh. It did it again. Upon unlocking phone after reboot (before clicking on podtrapper, but I have it set to auto start)I get the following:
1. "Uh oh, your podcast directory doesn't exist anymore."
2. "You now need to select a folder to store Podcasts. Please choose a folder in the following screen."
Then, after clicking podtrapper icon (better than old one btw), I get a choose directory screen.

EDIT: OK, I found the podtrapper folder and selected it and it loaded my podcasts.

Thanks for the ability to add a folder to the playlist... but there's an issue.

On the previous version, when I went to the folder with the audiobook I was going to listen to it was sorted by name (my naming convention id AUTHOR - TITLE - DISK#). This was working fine... now I get everything sorted backwards (highest disk number is at the top of the list). Ideas?

PodTrapper Play/Pause ? ? ?
I seem to have another PodTrapper icon on my home screen. I click on it and nothing happens, but if I hover over it, it says PodTrapper Play/Pause. The other icon is normal though.
All of my play list is intact and looks good. I will take a screen shot if you want to see this extra icon.

Task switcher icon is back to wire frame on storm.

I haven't figured out where it decides what icon to show for the task switcher. Every time I think I've figured it out it turns out to be a fluke and it reverts at some point. Heh. They shouldn't let me write software.

The play/pause thing is for convenience key use. Someone had requested the ability to map a convenience key to play or pause the currently playing item in PodTrapper. Doing so requires an alternate entry path into podtrapper, since it's not possible for an app to detect a convenience key if it's not in focus. So, basically, mapping that app (PodTrapper Play/Pause) to a convenience key will act like hitting the space key in PodTrapper, but you don't have to be in PodTrapper for it to work (though for the moment PodTrapper does need to be running first).

Hope this explains it, I have a feeling I'm going to get this question a lot, but I'm not sure how to incorporate an explanation into the app

Oh, and I released 1.7.1 to fix a couple issues, let me know if you guys run in to more...

Okay, but the play/pause icon is the orange speaker, and the regular Podtrapper program application is the generic one.

Ah, that one's easy. It'll fix itself after the next reboot of your phone (it's related to the task switcher icon issue, sort of).

I seem to have a problem with the play list. I can create and edit it ok, but clicking on an entry doesn't take me to it so I can start playing it. I have to exit out the play list and go find the actual 'cast. Even if I use View Selected nothing happens. Not sure if it is related but after the date in the play list I get 'null' not sure if that just mean it doesn't know the time of the recording?

I have the same problem as the previous poster re playlist. There is only Play Next from the menu, but that skips over what is currently playing.
