2.6.7: Restore from backup doesn't work

New postby ofutur on Fri Jan 22, 2010 12:19 pm

I've started and exited PT several times and according to the wiki, a backup should have been created. I've just re-installed an OS and when I go click on "Restore from backup", it tells me there is nothing to restore.

I restored my backup done via BBDM, but not all settings were restored. Things like the notify of new betas.

Sounds like it may not have the correct PodTrapper directory. What's your storage directory set to on the SD card? (Also, do you have any PT_B_* files on your SD card anywhere?)

/Media Card/BlackBerry/podtrapper
And I can see the PT_B_*.dat.rem files there

I couldn't find these files anywhere else.

Hmm,

But if you go to the restore menu it doesn't list any for restore?

I select "Restore from backup" and I get the following message:"There are no existing backups to restore from"

Hmm, looking back over the old post, I notice you said there are PT_B_xxx.dat.rem files. Do you know where the .rem came from?

Yes, this happens when you encrypt your SD card.

Ah, ok. That'd do it. I didn't realize you had content encryption turned on. I'm surprised PodTrapper can play anything back, usually it totally locks it out. I'd imagine you'll have a hard time playing videos with it turned on, though, due to the overhead of the decryption...

Media files are not encrypted, so it's not a problem to play them, but apparently PT can't yet see the config files, yet :).

They don't show up with a .rem extension? (The media files)

Nope, because I chose to exclude media files, so that I can manage them from an external application, like songbird
