Notification LED

New postby gibsta on Mon Oct 19, 2009 1:49 pm

I absolutely love Podtrapper. Only app I have bought for my BB, may be the only app I ever buy. :) I have just this one issue since the last update....

Is it my imagination, or does the newest version of Podtrapper trigger the BB notification (LED, vibrate, etc.) when a new podcast completes downloading? I have been trying to find a place where I can disable this behavior, but no luck so far. Anyone have any guidance for me? Thanks!

Yes, you may now set it to alert you that a download is completed, helpful on a really long download. Go into your profiles>set ringtones>other. :)

I'm so glad I read this. I was trying to figure out what the heck was wrong with my BlackBerry that the notification light would flash even though I couldn't see anything with new email/calendar/facebook items for me. It was making me crazy. Went into settings and turned that off. I guess I like the feature, but didn't know it was there. I'm sure there's no right answer of whether to default new features like that on or off, but if you're counting votes, I'd vote for off. :)

Anyone else find that disabling the notification LED in Profiles doesn't seem to be persistent? I turn that option off, and later find that it's set back to on. (It could be an OS 5.0 bug, as I'm running OS 5.0.0.238 on my Curve 8900.) I'm running PodTrapper 2.5.1.

I notice the same thing on my Storm, running 4.7.0.148.

But... the setting in Messages->Alerts stays the same (Volume is "Silent," LED and Vibration set to "Off," Notify Me During Class set to "No"), but I still get a vibration when it finishes download a podcast.

Is there a different place I have to change a setting?

I'm not running any other 'notification' apps... after further experimentation, I've noticed the LED Notification setting only seems to reset to ON after doing a battery pull.

Update on this: I installed a newer beta of OS 5.0 (version 5.0.0.348) on my BB 8900, and now the notification LED setting in Profiles stays properly set after a battery pull!

Downside: I just upgraded to a BlackBerry 9700, and it seems that the version of OS 5.0 that came included (5.0.0.330) still has this bug, so I'll have to wait for a newer version of OS 5 on the 9700 to be rid of it again! On the positive side, I'm loving the BB 9700!
