Lots of files left after Podcasrt deletion

New postby brandypuff on Mon Oct 18, 2010 1:58 pm

Blackberry
Podtrapper 3.03.

I just noticed that after delting all my podcast episodes (not the subscriptions),
there are still a lot of files left in the podtrapper directory on my storage card.
There are 55 .DAT, .MV4, MP4 files left behind totally 840MB.

Hi there,

Yeah, this happens if the BB keeps ahold of files when PodTrapper is trying to delete them. It takes steps to purge them, but if it's closed before it is eventually able to they won't get deleted. You can run the pruner to delete them (Settings -> Storage Settings -> Prune orphaned files).

Let me know if that doesn't work for you.

I tried pruning but got a message something along the lines of: Pruning isn't safe due to the way podtrapper was started.
Not sure what this means but it won't let me prune.

Yes, so occassionally i just purge them. However. i think last time i did that it may have reset my subscriptions and
it downloaded ones I've aready watched. Can't say for sure though. I'll watch closely next time i do it.

Thanks.

This isn't working again. I get the message that it can't purge because the application wasn't started correctly.
I went into the directory where the podcasts were stored and deleted everything manually except one file
named PT_temp_1.dat which was read only. Could this be the reason it won't purge? I stopped Podtrapper
before deleing the files.

I think it's a bug that I just fixed. Let me know how it goes when you have 3.0.6.

It allowed me to prune once after the upgrade but no longer. I tried again after i watched some podcasts
but got that message again about pruning not allowed or something.

Seems after each upgrade i can only prune one time.
