The General Settings (Main Screen -> *Menu* Settings -> General Settings) screen allows you to change some PodTrapper settings that don't fit into specific categories.

Contents

Run when blackberry starts

Currently this option doesn't affect PodTrapper's behavior, but at some point in the future this will allow PodTrapper to run on start.

Default sort

This affects how episodes are sorted by default when viewing a podcast. This can also be temporarily overridden when viewing a specific podcast via the menu.

Default view

This defines what episodes are shown by default when viewing a list of episodes in a podcast.

  • DLed refers to downloaded episodes
  • UnDLed refers to episodes not downloaded
  • Deleted refers to deleted episodes

Show files in Media Player

By default PodTrapper attempts to hide its files from the media player. For me there's nothing more annoying than shuffling songs, being in the middle of a playlist, and having a podcast get thrown in the mix. Setting this to 'Yes' allows the media player to see PodTrapper files. Note: It's not currently possible for PodTrapper to specify meta data in the files such as Artist, Title, etc. Therefore whatever shows up in media player is up to the publisher of your podcast, which may or may not be accurate or useful.

Play/Pause Icon Switches to PT

Ever wondered why PodTrapper has two icons? It's because PodTrapper can't listen for keys that are pressed when PodTrapper is in the background (it's a RIM limitation, unfortunately). The second icon, labeled 'PodTrapper Play/Pause' allows you to play or pause the current item in PodTrapper without having to have PodTrapper in focus. You can assign 'PodTrapper Play/Pause' to a convenience key, and then always be able to control it. Or you can hide that icon if you don't plan to use it.

This setting controls whether PodTrapper should be brought to the foreground when that button is pressed or not.

Delete episodes after listened

To help you keep your media card from filling up, this setting tells PodTrapper to automatically delete episodes after you're done listening to them.

Disable thumbnails

Thumbnails are pretty, but they consume a lot of the precious little resources available on your phone. If you're experiencing a lot of hourglassing this is probably why (assuming you have more than a handful of podcasts). Disabling thumbnails can noticeably improve your berry's health.

Auto sort playlist

Each podcast, via the Edit Podcast Screen has the ability to automatically add its episodes to your playlist (see the Playlist Screen help). This option determines whether your playlist should be resorted according to the settings selected when you last used the 'Add Episodes' menu item on the Playlist Screen after every item is added. This will also apply to episodes you manually add to the playlist via menu items.
